Can you believe the end of the school year is almost here? As a mom, I know the scramble to find the perfect teacher gift. You want something that says thank you without feeling like an afterthought. This year, I wanted to spotlight some amazing small businesses that I genuinely love.
Here are six businesses I featured in my latest Instagram post, plus a few more local gems to check out!
If you’re looking for a gift to pamper, look no further than Honeycomb Salon. Nestled right in the heart of Shallotte, NC, Honeycomb is a fashion-focused boutique salon that goes above and beyond a typical hair appointment. They specialize in hair color, cuts, extensions, waxing, facials, manicures, lash extensions, and even microblading – basically everything you think a teacher may need after a long school year.
The vibe here is warm and welcoming, and one of my favorites. Consider gifting a service certificate so your teacher can choose exactly what she needs most.
📍 4924 Main Street, Suite 3, Shallotte, NC 28470
Protocol is Wilmington’s go-to destination for fine gifts, tableware, and beautiful home accessories, and they have a dedicated teacher gift section that’s absolutely worth browsing. I’m particularly obsessed with the Vietri Hibiscus Glass Bud Vase – handblown by skilled Tuscan artisans, it will bring a touch of easy elegance to any floral arrangement. At just over $74, it’s a gift that feels truly luxurious without being over the top.
Founded in 2002, Protocol has been a cornerstone of the Wilmington retail scene for over two decades. The store carries fine china, crystal, barware, home décor, and curated gift collections from some of the most beautiful brands in the world. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, making the experience as lovely as the products themselves. This is the kind of store where you walk in for one thing and leave completely inspired.
📍 3502 Wrightsville Ave, Suite A, Wilmington, NC 28403
Just a short drive down the coast is Ooh La La Boutique, a charming gift and stationery boutique in Myrtle Beach, SC. This shop is a treasure trove of thoughtful, curated gifts. They carry beloved lines like Mud Pie, Two’s Company, Tyler Candles, Susan Shaw Jewelry, and Mon Ami, among many others. They also offer beautiful stationery and custom invitations from top paper brands like Crane, William Arthur, and Carlson Craft.
Whether your teacher loves a beautiful candle, a piece of delicate jewelry, or a set of gorgeous notecards, Ooh La La has something for every personality.
📍 6912 N Kings Hwy # B, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
Means Carney Home is a beautifully curated home boutique and interior design studio founded by Angela Means and Danielle Carney. While their brick-and-mortar is in Buckhead, Atlanta, they shop online, and their teacher-themed apple gift is a nod to that classic symbol of appreciation with a seriously elevated twist.
The shop blends carefully selected home décor, original artwork from over 30 artists, unique gift items, and custom pieces, all in the spirit of helping people create spaces they truly love. If you want a gift that stands apart from anything else your teacher will receive this year, this is your spot. And I just had to give them a shoutout as my cousin’s store!
📍 56 E. Andrews Dr., Suite 24, Atlanta, GA 30305
Treat your teacher to the nail experience she didn’t know she needed. Dry Surf & Sand in Surf City, NC is a luxury nail salon specializing in Russian Gel Manicures and dry, waterless pedicures; a European-style technique that’s gentler on nails, longer-lasting, and incredibly precise.
Founded by Alina, who has built a devoted following of clients who drive over an hour just to see her, Dry Surf & Sand is known for manicures that last 3–4 weeks without chipping. For a teacher who spends her days working with her hands, this is a game-changing treat. Gift a service certificate and let her pick a time that works!
📍 13567 NC-50 B, Surf City, NC 28445
Last but absolutely not least, Pipton is one of my all-time favorite spots in the Wilmington area, and their 16oz Soy Candle is a perfect end-of-year teacher gift. Hand-poured with premium soy wax and finished with a soft-crackling wooden wick sustainably sourced from the Forest Stewardship Council, it’s luxurious, clean-burning, and beautifully scented.
Located at Lumina Station in Wilmington, Pipton is a beauty concept store unlike anything else in the area. Founded by hairstylist and international educator Elisha Smith, the shop curates a lifestyle of luxury and clean beauty, stocking heritage labels alongside up-and-coming brands in skincare, haircare, cosmetics, accessories, and gifts. Supporting it means supporting a female-owned small business with deep coastal roots.
📍 1900 Eastwood Rd, Suite 30, Wilmington, NC 28403
The coastal Carolinas are rich with incredible small businesses. Here are a few more places to explore for that perfect teacher gift:
Blue Moon Gift Shops – Wilmington, NC
Voted Wilmington’s best gift shop year after year, Blue Moon is home to over 100 local artisans, retailers, and entrepreneurs spread across 8,500 square feet. Think coastal décor, hand-blown glass, handcrafted jewelry, pottery, local NC products, and so much more. If you want something truly one-of-a-kind, this is your first stop. (bluemoongiftshops.com)
Islands Art and Bookstore – Ocean Isle Beach/Sunset Beach, NC
Located on Beach Drive between Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach, this gem features handmade sea glass jewelry, original artwork, photography, and books by local writers and illustrators. It’s a beautiful spot to find a meaningful, coastal-inspired gift.
Classy But Sassy Gift Shop – Ocean Isle Beach, NC
Locally owned and operated by an OIB native, Classy But Sassy carries a beautiful selection of unique gifts, custom embroidered bags, and specialty items. A true neighborhood shop with so much heart. Located on Beach Drive (Hwy 179) just east of the Ocean Isle Beach entrance.
OIB Surf & Java – Ocean Isle Beach, NC
Part surf shop, part boutique coffee bar, OIB Surf & Java is a local favorite carrying beach fashions, jewelry, sunglasses, and accessories. A gift card here is both practical and fun for any teacher who loves the beach life.
Our teachers pour so much into our children every single day. This end of the school year, let’s show up for them, and for the local businesses that make our coastal community such a special place to live. Shop small, shop local, and give something they’ll actually remember.
